Chrome OS: For the Love of Destruction
In the spot above, a guy named Glen tries to create a flyer for a lost cat for his friend but he getting interrupted and his laptop smashed beyond repair. The point of this exercise is to demonstrate how safe the new Chrome OS is because it stores everything in the cloud (online) for those of you non-techies. During the course of the video guys in biohazard suits take pleasure in destroying his Chrome Laptop about for times in several ways.
This is done to emphasize how the new Chrome OS stores everything online, in real time, so you will never have to worry about losing data if your computer is damaged. They never tell you what happens if one of the Google services goes down. To find that out what happens you have to fully trust the company and be an early adopter of the OS once it comes out.
Hey, I’ve already signed up to be a tester. What do you guys think? Oh, and you can sign up here to be to be a tester too, remember there is no guarantee you will be selected to get a laptop and you have to live in the U.S.
Disclaimer: I already full heartedly believe Google will control the world someday.
One last thing, the video was created by a Glen Murphy I am guessing he’s a Googler.
Best,

Bing Keeps you from Looking Like a Moron or Does it?
Sorry for the long delay between posts everyone. But I can’t write posts in my office anymore because of recent changes to my work schedule. Anyway, let’s talk about Bing baby. Bing is Microsoft’s latest attempt to catch up with all mighty Google with respect to search engines. The campaign claims that Bing is the “Cure” to search overload.
If you watch the spot you can understand what they tried to do with this particular creative execution. They are simply saying that with traditional search engines your results are loaded with sites that seem related to what you searched for but they really aren’t. The way they visually demonstrate this is by having one person say something they are looking for like “cheap tickets” and others would make a million suggestions for similar terms. After even 10 seconds of listening to this you will be extremely annoyed and that when they make the statement Bing is the cure to search overload.
This spot and several others like it were done by JWT. Microsoft is all about being the cure to diseases these days. In this particular spot, they are curing “Search Overload Syndrome” or S.O.S. JWT has provided the software giant with several other diseases to cure. They say Internet Explorer 8 cures F.O.M.S and S.H.Y.N.E.S.S. The other diseases I read about via Adfreak.
What do you guys think about Microsoft being a cure for your search ailments? I never really thought of Microsoft as the cure for anything, I thought of them as the problem. But hey, as you all know these are all just my opinions.
Best,
A.B.

Sprint's Present to Twitter
The spot above created by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners must have been Sprint’s gift to Twitter. What other reason could they have for giving them free product placement in their television spot that I believe is airing nationally. The spot gives a shout out to several Web 2.0 product and services such as YouTube and Google. The question is why are they doing this in a nationally aired spot? Are these other Internet companies helping pay for the spot?
I read a few blogs that claim the mobile phone network provider wanted to show that their network and can be used for more then just making phone calls on the go. Almost everybody now has a device that that makes calls, browses the net, sends email, and connects to social networks. But the question still remains, why give those other companies free advertising? The title of this post is “Sprint's Present to Twitter” and that’s because they get a name mention and their stupid birds flying all over the screen. No offense to Twitter, of course.
Usually when products and services other then the one being promoted are mentioned, they are a direct competitor and they aren’t usually mentioned in a positive light. Also, the other social networks mentioned in the spot are mentioned quickly unlike Twitter and its blue birds.
Anyway, if anyone can find solid reasoning for all these product placements in this ad please comment and I’ll thank you and link to your site on my blog if you have a site.
Best,
A.B.
